Role context
Mid Devon District Council is preparing a new Local Plan that will bring forward new homes, jobs, community facilities and infrastructure to meet our needs while protecting a high quality natural environment. The Local Plan will have a key role in planning for economic growth, responding to the climate emergency and moving towards a net-zero carbon future. You will be working at a senior level and will have previously assisted with writing local plan policies, preparing Sustainability Appraisals, Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessments and other technical studies. You will have a proven track record of completing projects and a good understanding of the National Planning Policy Framework and planning guidance and the plan making process. The role will provide an opportunity to further develop experience across a range of projects, either leading these or providing support, and will involve networking and community engagement.

The successful candidate will have drive and ambition, be resourceful, creative and able to work under pressure independently or as part of a small team. You will have good written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of standard IT packages.
