Job Title: Transport Manager Salary: £40,000 per annum Location: Chorley, Lancashire About the Role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Transport Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of our passenger transport operations. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the efficient and compliant running of our fleet, drivers, and associated transport services, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Manage a team of around 20 drivers and vehicles, ensuring compliance with all legal and safety requirements. Plan and oversee daily operations, including vehicle allocation, driver scheduling, and route planning. Coordinate with interchange supervisors and ensure smooth passenger changeovers. Organise and manage additional transport arrangements, including taxis, when required for customer journeys. Provide leadership, support, and development for drivers, supervisors, and operational staff. Ensure cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high service standards. Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules and liaise with engineering/maintenance teams. Handle incident reports, driver performance, and disciplinary matters as necessary. Work closely with the Traffic Assistant, who will provide support and report directly into the Transport Manager. Maintain accurate records in line with company policies and compliance requirements. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and customer experience. Requirements Previous experience in a Transport Manager or similar role within the passenger transport or logistics sector. Strong knowledge of transport legislation, compliance, and driver hours regulations. Proven ability to manage and motivate staff across multiple levels. Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and leadership abilities. Ability to work under pressure and make sound operational decisions.
