Role Overview
The HV Cable Design Engineer will work on electrical projects ranging from LV to 400kV. The role involves reviewing Distribution Network Operator (DNO) Contestable Connection Offers and designing contestable and private grid connections. The engineer will also assist in the conceptual design of energy projects, including Solar Farms, Battery Energy Storage, and Gas Peak Power facilities.
Responsibilities:
* Design and develop grid connection and private network infrastructure from LV to 132kV.
* Review HV cable aspects of various projects, including onshore and offshore cables and interconnectors.
* Participate in site visits, FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.
* Manage the design process for grid connection and private network projects.
* Ensure designs comply with EP policies, UK standards, DNO/IDNO policies, and employer requirements.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
* Experience with AutoCAD.
* Background in contracting, consulting, or working with IDNOs, DNOs, or ICPs.
* Experience in HV cable design, manufacture, and testing for HVAC and HVDC projects.
* Knowledge of HV cable systems and ratings (CYMCAP, ELEK, etc.).
* Understanding of IEC standards and CIGRE policies.
