Role: Project Design Engineer

Main tasks and responsibilities
1. Implement on-board telematics systems for our client's vehicles manufactured in Europe for global markets.
2. Develop and deliver the IVC (In Vehicle Connectivity) ECU for specific vehicle programs
3. Manage Tier 1 suppliers to deliver products to Quality, Cost & Timing targets.
4. Generate and release of TCU configuration data
5. Coordinate supplier validation to our client's design standards ahead of software release
6. Collaborate with internal test departments to confirm function and performance of vehicle connected services
7. Create and maintain cross carline development plans
8. Collaborate with Telematics Service Providers, ensuring their development schedules are aligned to our client's milestones.
9. Perform design reviews at key milestones
10. Perform hands on investigation and analysis on both test bench and vehicle
Qualifications, skills, training requirements
11. Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
12. Manufacturing BOM management experience (advantageous)
13. Office 365 tools (including Excel to intermediate/advanced level)
14. Have fluent written and verbal English language capability.
15. Be able to demonstrate and have practical experience in problem solving tools and techniques, and a strong mathematical understanding.
Required
16. Experience in automotive ECU development
17. Base level of system knowledge for vehicle connectivity.
18. Understanding of mobile network infrastructure and data transfer
19. Applicants with experience in ECU development other than telematics may be considered
Desirable
20. Knowledge of 4G/5G technologies
21. Knowledge of non-European mobile networks
22. Knowledge of MQTT
23. Knowledge of End to End System architecture understanding with Cloud Infrastructure
24. Understanding of European eCall regulation
25. Experience with analysis tools to check ECU function and performance such as CANalyser, DLT Viewer, Wireshark, UDS diagnostic tool etc
