We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Band 6 Diabetes Support Nurse to join our dynamic team.
The Diabetes Support Nurse will play a crucial role in providing specialised care to patients with diabetes, ensuring they receive high standards of treatment to effectively manage their condition.
This is a development role where the successful candidate will work towards becoming a Band 7 diabetes specialist nurse. In order to achieve this, the prescribing course must be successfully completed within an 18 month time frame.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
* Supporting the work of the Diabetes team to provide clinical support and expertise to Diabetic in-patients within the Trust and outpatient departments.
* Providing a high standard of nursing care and developing existing specialist Diabetes knowledge and skills.
* Acting as a Diabetes nursing resource giving advice and psychological support to patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
* Reviewing nursing practice and supporting the implementation of appropriate changes based on research/best practice.
* Assisting with the development and implementation of audit, quality and Risk Management initiatives.
* Contributing to the 7 day Diabetes Inpatient service.
