Autism Support Worker
Location: The Springfields Academy (North Site), Curzon Street, Caine, SN11 ODS
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Autism Support Worker to work alongside the teacher to deliver a personalised autism friendly academic and social skills curriculum, and to support families in implementing functional skills within the home and community at our Calne site.
Responsibilities
* Deliver a personalised autism-friendly academic and social skills curriculum.
* Support families in implementing functional skills within the home and community.
* Lead interventions and provide support to learners with autism.
* Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
* Promote inclusion of all pupils in learning and social skills activities.
* Use positive and personalised anxiety management strategies.
Required skills & qualifications
* Good knowledge and understanding of autism and social communication needs and appropriate strategies.
* Knowledge and understanding of social, emotional & mental health needs and cognitive needs that affect children and young people’s development.
* Excellent listening skills.
* Ability to build strong, trusting relationships.
* Resilient and able to take regular responsibility for agreed learning activities.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff and families.
