Job Title: Field IT Support Engineer
Location: Glasgow, Scotland (Onsite Dispatch Support)
Employment Type: Contract / On-Demand
Work Model: Onsite, as needed (includes occasional office visits for training/refresh)
About the Role:
We are seeking experienced Field IT Support Engineers to provide onsite technical support for desktop/end-user environments and smart hands/data center operations in Glasgow. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a highly responsive and visible IT support function, ensuring seamless onsite service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Onsite Dispatch Support Services
* Provide end-user support at various sites (including remote users) on a next-business-day basis.
* Perform hardware IMACD (Install, Move, Add, Change, Dispose) services.
* Deliver support for BYOD, peripherals, printers, projectors, and general IT equipment.
* Manage stock, coordinate delivery, and execute device swaps and warranty claims.
* Collaborate with service desk to ensure one-touch resolution and user satisfaction.
* Update ITSM tools and CMDB accurately post-task completion.
Smart Hands Support
* Execute operational tasks in data center and comms room environments.
* Perform hardware checks, power cycles, device patching, and cable management.
* Assist with video conferencing and IP telephony setup and troubleshooting.
* Manage removable media, coordinate deliveries, and assist with incident resolution.
On-Site Stock Management
* Maintain adequate inventory levels for spare parts and consumables.
* Work with logistics and suppliers for delivery, disposal, and storage.
* Ensure secure stock handling and proper access control at designated locations.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Proven experience in Field Support or Desktop Support roles.
* Hands-on experience with IT equipment setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
* Familiarity with ITSM tools and basic CMDB updates.
* Ability to work independently, professionally, and with attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and coordination skills.
