Residential support worker

Middle Barton
Peters Dean Care Ltd
Residential support worker
Posted: 3 November
Offer description

We are looking for a Children’s Support Worker to join our dedicated team and become part of our family home. This is more than just a job, it’s an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.

You’ll provide care, encouragement, and guidance, helping children manage complex emotions and build confidence for their futures. The role can be emotionally challenging, but also deeply rewarding, you could be the person who helps change a child’s life for the better.

Our home is a warm, family-style residential home currently rated Outstanding by Ofsted. We support young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Our young people enjoy activities such as football, basketball, parks, arcades, cadets, and swimming and we encourage our team to get involved too!

Shift Pattern

* 7 on / 7 off (Wednesday to Wednesday)

* Hours:

* First day: 10:00 – 22:00

* Following days: 07:30 – 22:00

* Final day: 07:30 – 12:00

* Day off: One “time-out” day during your working week (so you’ll effectively work 6 days in 14)

* Sleep-ins: Around 4–5 per month (own sleep-in rooms available all week if required)

* On-call: Approx. twice per week during your working week

Work–Life Balance

Our 7-on / 7-off rota gives you genuine balance, time to fully focus on the young people during your working week, followed by a full week off to rest, spend time with family, or enjoy your own interests.
Many of our team love the rhythm this pattern brings, it allows them to recharge properly and return refreshed and ready to give their best.

What You’ll Do

* Be part of a caring, supportive team providing a safe and loving home

* Act as a positive role model and inspire young people daily

* Offer emotional support during challenging situations

* Help children enjoy everyday activities and achieve their goals

* Encourage independence and decision-making

* Build trusting, respectful relationships

What We’re Looking For

* A naturally caring and compassionate person who can offer patience and understanding

* Flexible and emotionally resilient, with the ability to adapt to different situations

* Strong communicator with a positive, proactive attitude

* Experience working in care, or transferable skills from roles such as education, emergency services, security, or similar people-focused environments

* Able to remain calm and supportive under pressure

* Comfortable working shifts and taking part in sleep-ins

* Full UK Driving Licence – essential

If you’re ready to join a passionate, supportive team and enjoy a healthy work–life balance while changing young lives for the better, we’d love to hear from you
