Overview

We are recruiting Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners to join the Talking Therapies Team in Barking & Dagenham, part of NELFT North East London Foundation Trust. This is a permanent post for newly qualified or experienced PWPs who hold the IAPT-specific certificate in Low Intensity Psychological Interventions. A structured preceptorship is available for newly qualified PWPs.

Core requirements

Please apply if you are a newly qualified or experienced Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner and hold the IAPT Low Intensity certificate. Applicants nearing the end of training who are seeking their first qualified PWP role are welcome. Knowledge of professional guidelines and service policies is essential. The Trust offers blended working (home and office) with one late evening per week (12pm–8pm).


Main duties and responsibilities

The Step 2 team includes a PWP Lead, 4 Senior PWPs, qualified and trainee PWPs, Therapy Assistants and Honorary staff, with a wider team of Counsellors, Cognitive Behavioural Therapists, a physical activity co-ordinator, and an employment advisor. PWPs provide evidence-based low intensity interventions through guided self-help (6–8 sessions) and computerised CBT (SilverCloud). There is opportunity to co-facilitate group therapy with Step 3 clinicians.

Responsibilities also include engagement through an active outreach team, delivering psychoeducational workshops, and contributing to Special Interest Groups (SIGs) such as long term conditions, perinatal mental health, and LGBTQI+. The service supports continual professional development (CPD) and offers training from University College London (PWP Supervision and LTCs).


Training & qualifications

* University degree in psychology, health, social sciences, or other subject demonstrating psychological mindedness.
* Qualification from a recognised, accredited post-graduate PWP training programme (or working towards this).


Experience

* Experience of working with mental health service users in an IAPT service (NHS or voluntary sector).
* Experience in a service with agreed targets and demonstrated clinical outcomes.
* Ability to manage own caseload and time; excellent verbal and written communication; ability to develop therapeutic relationships; risk assessment within scope of practice.


Accreditation

* BABCP Accredited Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (or working towards accreditation via portfolio submission).

Other information

Probationary period applies. High Cost Area Supplement: 15% of basic salary (minimum £4,714; maximum £5,941 per annum, pro rata for part-time).


Job details

Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Full-time, Part-time, Job share, Flexible working.

Salary: £31,049 to £37,796 per year (plus HCAS) pro rata.
