GIS Consultant – Gateley Hamer
About the Role
This role is based in one of our UK offices in a hybrid work environment. The GIS Consultant will produce high‑quality spatial data, support multi‑disciplinary projects such as Compulsory Purchase Orders and Development Consent Orders, manage the GIS team’s knowledge base, and contribute to the development of an integrated online GIS and land referencing database.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
* Graduate with a degree in Geography or similar, or with substantial industry experience and comprehensive proficiency in ArcGIS.
* Develop and analyze spatial databases, identify opportunities for process improvement, and lead the creation of efficient workflows, particularly in ArcGIS Pro.
* Plan and manage GIS tasks for CPO/DCO projects, ensuring QA procedures are followed and datasets are accurate.
* Provide training and support to graduates and GIS technicians, and act as the single point of contact between GIS and project leads.
* Demonstrate extensive knowledge of UK GIS datasets, open‑source data and the HMLR title plans.
* Write code in Python (SQL experience desirable) and perform quality checks on co‑workers’ outputs.
* Prioritize a demanding workload, meet deadlines and maintain a high level of precision in data capture and mapping.
* Communicate effectively with clients, third parties and colleagues.
