We have a great opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our growing Business Change team here at Greggs and lead our PM team and implement the PMP way of working.

As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to mentor, support and build a team of project management professionals whilst delivering great outcomes for Greggs.

You will become part of a fast-growing, progressive working environment as we continue to grow our business. As a member of the Business Change Team, you’ll be required to both lead on project delivery and also define and lead the team’s continuous improvement strategy.

About the role

17. This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered
18. We know that having a work-life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role
19. The base location for this role is Newcastle Upon Tyne

What you'll do

Reporting to the Business Change Manager, the primary responsibility of this role will be planning and delivering agreed changes to the business safely and within agreed guidelines as well as:

20. Lead and mentor the IT&BC Project Management team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement and taking on the line management responsibility of that team
21. Spearhead the adoption and integration of PMP methodology into the team’s way of working
22. Manage and deliver complex, high-impact projects from initiation through to closure, ensuring alignment with business goals
23. Collaborate with senior stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and success criteria
24. Establish and maintain robust governance frameworks to ensure consistent project execution
25. Monitor and report on project performance, risks, and issues, providing strategic recommendations and insight
26. Drive resource planning and allocation across the PM team to optimise delivery capacity
27. Champion change management and stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle
28. Ensure compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices - seeking to fill any gaps that are found
29. Contribute to strategic planning and portfolio management within the IT&BC function including collaborating on and developing the departments strategic plan

About you

You will already have experience of leading project teams and will show the aptitude to develop an internal network at Greggs however, to be really successful in this role, we’re looking for candidates who are:

30. Outcome focused and able to apply practical thinking and theory to solve problems and take opportunities
31. Engaging in their style and take pride in clear written, presentation and verbal communication
32. Astute and aware of how change can help Greggs achieve its business goals
33. Can demonstrate self-learning and have a genuine passion for professional development of themselves and their team

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

34. Have achieved the Project Management Professional (PMP) qualification and understand intimately how to implement it as a way of working
35. Experience of building and leading a team of project management professionals with direct line management responsibility. A leader with a proven track record in people management and people development
36. The ability to be a self-starter with a proactive approach to daily tasks, overcoming problems and maintaining momentum
37. Experience of delivering IT projects using practical examples to describe challenges and successes
38. Experience of working in agile, product backlog environments and traditional project delivery methodologies and ability to demonstrate an understanding of the differences and pros and cons of these approaches
39. Have experience of influencing cross functionally and to Director Level
40. Can demonstrate commerciality
41. Are self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and using own initiative
