The Role
Reporting to the Head of Legal UK, the Legal Counsel will be a key member of a bi-national legal team assisting with the provision of commercial, contractual, construction, and compliance-related legal services to internal customers within Eurotunnel and across the Getlink group of companies in the UK and France.
The Legal Counsel must be experienced, pragmatic, and assured, with good communication skills and the ability to work closely with clients and colleagues at all levels.
Principal Accountabilities, Qualifications, and Experience
* Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and approving a wide range of upstream and downstream commercial contracts across the business including the supply of goods and services, rail-related construction and engineering projects, IT/IP contracts, and marketing/advertising agreements.
* Liaising with colleagues across the business to identify legal considerations arising from operational and commercial activities.
* Working closely with other business functions to ensure stakeholders are involved and informed of progress and developments.
* Collaborating with the Head of Legal UK and the Legal Director to meet the legal department's objectives.
* Assisting and contributing to bi-national work between legal team members.
* Identifying and mitigating legal risks for the Group’s activities.
* Providing training on UK legal issues and risks to legal team members and colleagues across the business.
* Offering legal advice on regulatory and compliance requirements, especially regarding Data Protection and Competition law policies.
Qualifications: You will be a UK-qualified solicitor/barrister with 4+ years PQE. Ideally, you will have private practice and in-house experience dealing with corporate, commercial, and regulatory issues. Fluency in English is required; fluency in French is highly desirable but not essential.
