Research Associate/Senior Research Associate in Photovoltaic Engineering
The Opportunity
The School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering (SPREE) offers a role focused on building models and analysing manufacturing cost data for solar modules across the PV value chain. Projects include financial, environmental, and policy assessments of PV manufacturing supply chains, techno‑economics of Ultra‑Low‑Cost Solar for hard‑to‑abate sectors, and techno‑economic analysis of emerging PV technologies.
Location & Work Mode
Australia – Kensington, Sydney. The role is full‑time, with a flexible hybrid environment. Fixed‑term contract for one year with potential for extension.
Compensation
* Level A: AUD $113,911–$121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation (Level B: AUD $127,947–$150,830 per annum + 17% superannuation)
* Full Time (Part Time available)
* Fixed‑term contract – 1 year (potential for extension)

Skills & Experience
Level A
* A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
* Experience with modelling (Python, similar, or Excel); ideally manufacturing‑process financial modelling.
* Experience analysing and documenting modelling outputs (papers, reports).
* Experience sourcing data from publications, collaborators, and public sources.
* Commitment to staying current in the field.
* Ability to conduct independent high‑quality research with limited supervision.
* Track record of publications and conference presentations.
* Teamwork, collaboration across disciplines, and effective relationship building.
* Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder communication.
Level B
* High‑impact research outcomes and evidence of research excellence.
* Significant involvement with professional and industry bodies.
* Excellent communication and networking skills.
