More About The Role


In the world of retail property, energy is no longer just a utility, it is a critical strategic asset. As our Senior Property Manager for Energy Operations, you will hold the keys to a £200m+ budget and the technical authority over our entire estate's energy infrastructure.

This is a high visibility leadership role within our Property team. You will oversee everything from high precision data intelligence and fiscal governance to the engineering standards of our refrigeration and HVAC systems. Your goal? To drive a mandatory 3% year on year consumption reduction while pushing on our pathway to an 80% carbon reduction by 2030.

You will oversee the administrative management of 1,500 primary utility accounts and 3,000+ tenant sub meters. This isn't just about paying bills, it's about zero loss recovery and high precision forecasting.

* You will be responsible for consumption forecasts with a margin of error as low as <0.02%.
* Leading the "bottom up" build of estate consumption for C-suite submission, ensuring zero tolerance for unrecovered overspends.
* Providing the "Buy/Sell" technical insights to our Treasury department to inform our energy hedging strategy.

You are the final sign off. No Mechanical or Electrical (M&E) installation enters our operations without your team's seal of approval.

* Ownership of technical standards for Refrigeration (GWP limits, heat recovery), HVAC, and Electrical distribution.
* Managing the "Packs" for lighting and climate, ensuring asset uptime while ruthlessly removing field overrides that bleed efficiency.
* Directing our F-Gas strategy and statutory reporting (ESOS, CCA, CDP) to stay ahead of legislative headwinds.

You will turn our SBTi 2030 commitments into engineered reality.

* Overseeing existing installations across 125 sites and leading the rollout to a further 250 stores via PPA.
* Managing the phasing and delivery of £10m–£20m in Capex, presenting progress directly to the C-suite via monthly CASC papers.

About You


This role requires a rare blend of technical knowledge, financial acumen, and senior leadership presence. You will have a deep understanding of systems, refrigeration, and utility market dynamics, and a "zero tolerance" for data gaps. You understand that data availability is crucial to making the right decisions at the right time.

We're looking for a key influencer, someone who can hold our providers accountable for quality and "Right First Time" (RFT) delivery, while simultaneously convincing the Board to invest in long term efficiency. You will also have:

* Significant experience managing large scale energy opex/capex budgets (£100m+).
* A deep knowledge of carbon reporting (Scope 1 & 2) and statutory compliance.
* A proven track record in retail operations or large scale multi-site estate management.
* The ability to translate complex technical data into clear, commercial business cases for C-suite stakeholders.
