Job Role

Join us as a Volunteer Mentor and play a key supporting role to the participants we work with, primarily men over the age of 18. You will offer personalised, one-to-one support to help improve participants' lives, equipping them with skills to progress and avoid cycles of criminality.

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to build a better future, regardless of past choices or current challenges.

Our ideal candidate will have lived experience of the Criminal Justice System and wish to give back to the community. Eligibility criteria include being substance abuse free for at least 6 months, complying with your order, and taking responsibility for your offending behaviour.

If you lack this experience, don't worry! We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds to reflect the community we serve. You must be over 18 years old.

We value excellent communication skills and empathy to build effective relationships with participants. You should be a positive role model, inspiring and empowering participants to reach their potential.

In return, we offer comprehensive training, including online and classroom sessions on:

* Safeguarding vulnerable adults
* Safeguarding children
* Mental health awareness
* Substance misuse

Location: South West

Key Responsibilities
* Attend appointments with participants
* Provide literacy and numeracy support, including assistance with forms
* Encourage engagement and remind participants of appointments
* Offer practical and emotional support
* Promote compliance with probation and license conditions
* Assist in job, apprenticeship, or volunteer searches
* Support in finding private accommodation
Skills and Experience
* Demonstrate empathy, tact, and discretion, especially with sensitive issues
* Effective verbal and written communication skills
* Accurate and timely management of computer-based information systems
* Ability to exercise authority and set boundaries appropriately
* Ability to work independently and handle stressful situations
