Experienced SEND Teaching Assistant – Sunderland

Pay: £90–£110 per day (PAYE)

We’re working with a supportive SEND provision in the Sunderland area looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. The school caters for children and young people with a wide range of complex needs, and they’re looking for someone who’s as patient as they are proactive.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with complex SEND
2. Assisting with personal care routines and physical support where needed
3. Supporting learning through communication aids, sensory activities, and structured routines
4. Using hoisting and mobility equipment safely (experience with hoisting is highly desirable)
5. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to deliver individualised plans
What we’re looking for:
6. Experience working in an SEND or specialist school environment
7. Confidence supporting pupils with physical or medical needs
8. A calm, nurturing approach and genuine passion for inclusion
9. Experience with hoisting and manual handling (training can be provided)
