Admin Assistant

An exciting opportunity has becomeavailable in our Cardiology Department. We are looking for a dynamic,enthusiastic person with a flexible approach to join our CardiologyAdministration Team as Administration Assistant. The successful candidate will support theclinical and secretarial teams ensuring that our patients have a first classservice from the moment they make contact with the service. The post willrequire some flexibility across the division to support service needs. Thesuccessful applicant will possess excellent audio typing skills, supported byan RSA 2 qualification or equivalent qualification or proven admin experience.Level 2 numeracy and literacy skills are essential to the posts and MUST beshown in your application, if these qualifications arent listed yourapplication you will not be shortlisted. Main duties of the job

The successfulapplicant will be enthusiastic and willing to work as part of a team. Experience of audio typing and/or keyboardskills are essential to the role. You will be able to demonstrate excellentorganisational skills and be able to communicate effectively and have previousexperience in a busy office environment. As part of the role you will bedealing with telephone/email queries, scanning, postal duties, booking patientsin/out of the internal system and making any follow up appointments asrequired. The post is predominantly based at Sunderland however you would beexpected to cover other areas over both the Sunderland and South Tyneside sitesto support service needs. The post is 25 hours per week working between thehours of 8.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

Job responsibilities

Toprovide clerical support to the Division of Medicine under the supervision of CardiologySecretaries.

To beresponsible for registering attendances and updating patient demographicdetails in the patient administration system.

To complywith the Trusts vision, values and behavioural compact.

Toprovide typing support to the Division of Medicine under the supervision of theCardiology Secretaries

Personal Qualities

Experience

* At least six months clerical experience in a busy office environment.
* Confident, persuasive and able to communicate at all levels
* Previous clerical experience within NHS setting.
* Some experience of dealing with the public.


Qualifications

* RSAII Typing/Word Processing/or minimum 2 years proven experience.
* Educated to GCSE Level 2 (Numeracy and Literacy) standard or equivalent.
* Experience of communicating with people at all levels both in person and in writing, by email and telephone.
* Medical Terminology.
* Knowledge of Hospital V6, Medisec information systems.
* EDCL or working towards.
* Knowledge of NHS Waiting Time Targets.


Knowledge & Skills

* Experience of audio typing.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
* Able to prioritise tasks.
* Effective interpersonal skills.
* Able to communicate messages and instructions accurately to colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
* Ability to use initiative, and practice effective time management
* Knowledge of medical terminology
* Customer care experience
