Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)
About The Role
We're looking for PhD-level Biochemists to help train and refine cutting-edge AI models on advanced scientific topics. Your deep domain expertise will directly shape how AI reasons through complex biochemistry — from protein folding to metabolic flux — making a real impact on the future of scientific AI.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No prior AI experience required.
* Organization: Alignerr
* Type: Hourly Contract
* Location: Remote
* Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
* Design Advanced Problems — Create challenging biochemistry questions spanning nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, enzyme kinetics, and drug‑target interactions to rigorously test AI performance
* Author Ground‑Truth Solutions — Write precise, step‑by‑step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for high‑level AI scientific reasoning
* Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI‑generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy and adherence to scientific standards
* Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors such as incorrect stoichiometry or misunderstood stereochemistry, and provide structured feedback to improve the model's scientific thinking
* Work Independently — Complete task‑based assignments asynchronously on your own schedule
Who You Are
* Hold a PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field
* Have strong foundational knowledge in areas such as structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, or bioinformatics
* Can communicate complex biological and chemical concepts clearly and precisely in written form
* Have a sharp eye for detail when reviewing chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols
* No prior AI or data annotation experience required
Nice to Have
* Experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation workflows
* Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
* Background in scientific writing or technical communication
Why Join Us
* Work on cutting‑edge AI projects in partnership with the world's leading AI research labs
* Fully remote and flexible — work when and how much you want, 10–40 hours/week
* Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and global collaboration
