Nursing Associate

this is a full time post, but we would consider applicants looking for part-time.

Theteam at Newhaven are friendly, supportive and exceptionally caring, puttingpatient care at the heart of the work we do to improve health care outcomes andservice delivery.

We can offer a full-time 12 month fixed termposition. Our working patterns are 3-4 long days/ night(07:30-20:00/19:30-08:00) across a four-week period including weekends and bankholidays.

Main duties of the job

Role Requirements

* We welcome newly qualified Nurse Associates and experienced Nurse Associates
* The ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels
* An enthusiastic, motivated and innovative thinker to become part of the Older Adult inpatient service
* The ability to work autonomously managing your own named patients, evaluating a plan of care.
* The ability to problem solve, delegate, co-ordinate and manage time effectively
* Excellent communication and inter-personal skills along with a flexible and responsive approach

Day to Day elements

Close working with all members of the Multi-disciplinary Team

Undertaking mental health needs assessments

Assessment and Management of risk

Liaising with other services such as, community mental health team, Hospital at Home Team, Mental Health Liaison Team and the Acute Trust

Effective assessment through SBAR and care planning

Supervising of junior staff, including students

Job responsibilities

Act as a role model to colleagues, seeking the higheststandards of professionalism.

Assess the care needs of individual patients and thenand evaluate programmes of care for them.

Provide leadership to junior staff in their charge, supervising, monitoring,supporting and educating them in good professional and clinical practices.

Demonstrate effective handover and communicationof care

Person Specification


Knowledge

* NMC Code of Conduct
* Knowledge of the ageing
* process and related mental and physical health problems
* Knowledge of the individuals responsibility towards health and safety
* Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development
* Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice


Skills and Abilities

* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats
* Able to assess, plan, and evaluate programmes of care
* Able to work as an effective team member
* Uses own initiative and is able to take decisions
* Able to maintain clear and legible documentation
* Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities
* Ability to support, supervise, assess and act as a role model to nursing associate students, other learners and health care support workers as required


Additional Criteria

* Able to carry out physical requirements of the role e.g. using mechanical hoists to move patients


Qualifications

* NMC Nursing Associate registration
* GCSE English (grade A-C) or equivalent
* GCSE Maths (grade A-C) or equivalent
* i understand that i will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer


Experience

* Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Experience in prioritising own workload
* Experience in working without direct supervision
