Role Responsibility Due to retirement, the North Kent Fostering Support Team are looking to appoint a full time Fostering Social Worker to provide high quality supervision, support and training to foster carers and their families, living across Swale, Medway, Gravesham and Dartford. You will be supporting foster carers to understand the meaning of their child’s behaviour and to consider what might help to both manage the behaviour and maintain meaningful and trusting relationship, while having the upmost attention to the safeguarding of those children and the provision of safe care within the foster family environment. You will be joining an experienced team within a Fostering Service whose ambition is to enhance the support offer to our carers, building carers skills and knowledge to achieve positive outcomes and placement stability for the children in their care. This includes supporting carers who look after children with disabilities, so experience and knowledge in this area would be of benefit in this role, although it is not a requirement. It is an exciting and challenging time to be working in the field of Fostering, particularly as Kent is part of the Department of Education’s program to improve the recruitment and retention of Foster Carers with Local Authorities and has in the last year developed The Fostering Network ‘Mockingbird Program’ as part of our support offer to fostering families and the children they care for. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England. This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification. Closing date: 25 th July 2025 Interview date(s): TBC
