We are seeking an experienced Temporary Volunteer Co-Ordinator to provide short-term operational co-ordination of our Letchworth based clients established volunteering programme.
This role will ensure continuity, maintain volunteer engagement, and support programme delivery while a wider volunteering strategy review is underway.
The organisation has an active and well-established volunteer base of approximately 120 volunteers operating across multiple sites and service areas.
This is a part time role for approx. 20 hours a week, these can be made up of 3 full days or having the hours spread out over 4 to 5 days. - the assignment is for 12 weeks and will be site based in Letchworth.
Role Purpose
To oversee the day-to-day co-ordination, administration, and support of the volunteering programme, ensuring volunteers remain effectively deployed, supported, and engaged across all operational areas.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the daily operation of the organisation's volunteer communications and scheduling platform
Maintain and update volunteer rotas
Liaise with operational teams, to ensure volunteer coverage meets service requirements
Process volunteer expense claims in accordance with organisational procedures
Manage incoming volunteering enquiries
Promote new volunteering opportunities using agreed channels
Co-ordinate recruitment, vetting, and onboarding of new volunteers in line with organisational policy
Maintain regular communication with volunteers
Provide guidance and support to ensure a positive volunteer experience
Respond to queries and escalate welfare or operational issues as required
Candidate Requirements
Demonstrable experience managing or coordinating volunteer programmes or similar people-based services
Strong administrative and organisational skills
Experience managing rotas and coordinating multiple service areas
Excellent engagement and communication skills
Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively
Successful candidate must be confident managing established volunteer groups with minimal supervision
The role requires strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity when working with volunteers from diverse backgrounds
Flexibility may be required to occasionally support evening or weekend activity
