Who are Neway?
Initial founding in 2003 we were acquired by Cammell Laird in 2008 and then in we were brought under APCL Group

a global ship building and ship repair organisation which brings together A&P Group, Cammell Laird and Neway.

So as Health, Safety & Environment Manager at Neway, what will you do?
Youll be responsible for leading and overseeing all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) activities within our business. This position is based at Birkenhead and will require travel to our other operational sites.
You will play a crucial role in ensuring that safety protocols are adhered to, risks are managed, and the well-being of all is maintained to the highest standard
At first, youll develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and systems for blasting and painting operations, then youll maintain them
Youll conduct risk assessments and safety audits on-site and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
Leading and managing HSE youll be providing training and guidance to ensure all employees are up-to-date with safety protocols
Monitoring and reporting on HSE performance, youll identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
Youll ensure compliance with NEBOSH, CMIOSH, and other relevant health and safety standards
Collaborating with senior management and project teams youll support safe execution of projects
If they happen, youll investigate incidents and accidents, providing recommendations and implementing preventative measures
And what are we looking for?
NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and CMIOSH membership are essential
Significant experience in health and safety management, specifically within ship repair, oil & gas or heavy industry
Proven track record in managing health and safety across multiple locations in high-risk environments
Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, risk assessment processes, and safety management systems
Experience in managing safety in blasting, painting, and confined space work
Communication skills that engage and train diverse teams
Full UK driving license (or equivalent) with a willingness to travel to various sites

Due to the nature of what we do for some of the customers that we work with, some roles working for APCL Group are subject to security control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors including your nationality, any previous nationalities you have held, and your place of birth may limit those roles you can perform with us.
You must also undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before your employment starts, which will include a basic DBS check.
