The Adolescent Treatment Team within Lewisham CAMHS provides intensive, community-based support to adolescents with complex mental health needs and high levels of risk. We are seeking an experienced Band 7 Psychologist or Family/Systemic Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. The role involves holding a small caseload (approximately 10–12 cases), undertaking specialist assessments, care coordination, and therapeutic interventions. Our children often have some issues relating to First Episode Psychosis, Bipolar, Personality disorder, Eating Disorders, Trauma and Gender Identity.
The team is highly supportive and collaborative, comprising nurses, psychologists, family therapists, CBT therapists, and medical colleagues, with strong psychiatric oversight. Staff benefit from regular supervision, shared working, case discussions, and access to specialist consultation, including psychotherapy, safeguarding, DBT, and Tier 4 services. We have strong links with other Lewisham CAMHS teams and actively support professional development. Feedback from both staff and service users consistently highlights the team’s positive culture and high-quality care.
What you can add:
* Provide a specialist psychology/therapy service to the Adolescent Treatment Team, including assessment, formulation, intervention, care planning, and outcome monitoring for young people with complex mental health needs.
* Deliver evidence-based, culturally appropriate therapeutic interventions, drawing on systemic models and adapting approaches in response to clinical complexity, developmental history, and ongoing outcomes.
* Undertake specialist assessment, formulation, and treatment with individuals, couples, families, and wider social networks, including work with carers as appropriate.
* Assess and manage risk, developing and reviewing risk management and care plans, and act as care coordinator for a defined caseload, liaising with partner agencies as required.
* Provide clinical supervision and consultation, and contribute to service evaluation, audit, and research activities.
* Work autonomously within service policies and professional frameworks, taking responsibility for clinical decisions, including treatment planning and discharge, with appropriate clinical supervision.
What you’ll need:
* An undergraduate degree in Psychology or a post-graduate qualification in a relevant mental health or social welfare profession, with demonstrable professional practice
* Either a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent qualification accepted by the HCPC for registration) or a Master’s level qualification in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy (or equivalent qualification accredited by UKCP)
* Further specialist training relevant to the role (e.g. CBT, DBT, child or family/systemic psychotherapy, or neuropsychology)
* Registered with HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist or registered with the UKCP as a Systemic Psychotherapist
(Registration with BABCP as a CBT therapist also acceptable where applicable)
* Experience of psychological/systemic assessment and treatment of children and young people with a range of complex psychological needs, including within CAMHS
