We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Component / Electronics Engineer to join our engineering team. You will be responsible for selecting, qualifying, and managing electronic components used in our products, ensuring compliance with design requirements, cost targets, and availability. This role is essential to ensuring product reliability, manufacturability, and longevity.
Key Responsibilities:
* Select and qualify electronic components (passive, active, electromechanical, etc.) based on performance, reliability, and availability
* Evaluate alternative parts and suggest cost-effective and lifecycle-optimized solutions
* Work closely with design engineers to ensure components meet electrical and mechanical specifications
* Maintain and manage component libraries, part numbers, and datasheets in PLM/ERP systems
* Interface with suppliers and distributors for part sourcing, lead times, and compliance information
* Monitor and mitigate risks related to part obsolescence, supply chain disruptions, and compliance (RoHS, REACH, etc.)
* Perform failure analysis and support component-level root cause investigations
* Collaborate with purchasing, quality, and manufacturing teams for BOM management and production readiness
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
* 2+ years of experience in electronics/component engineering or a related hardware role
* Solid understanding of electronic components and their specifications
* Familiarity with component datasheets, lifecycle status, and sourcing platforms (e.g., Octopart, SiliconExpert)
* Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD, Eagle)
* Proficiency in using PLM/ERP systems for BOM and component management
* Knowledge of industry standards and compliance requirements (RoHS, REACH, IPC)
* Experience working with EMS/OEM vendors and supply chain partners
* Exposure to failure analysis tools and environmental testing standards
* Familiarity with obsolescence management and risk mitigation strategies
* Understanding of international compliance certifications (UL, CE, etc.)
