As the Senior Specification Technologist Food Safety, you will manage the maintenance and sign-off of product specifications and associated documentation across all our stores, working collaboratively with various departments.
As Senior Specification Technologist – Food Safety, you will:
* Have extensive working knowledge of Food Law, including allergen management, legal food & drink labelling requirements, and experience of future horizon scanning to detect potential Food Law changes.
* Support the Senior Technical Manager - Supplier & Product to ensure the effective implementation of the Food Safety and Quality Management Policy.
* Work closely with Food Buying to ensure new products and concessions launch on time in a safe and legal manner.
* Champion accurate completion of Foodhalls & Restaurants product specifications sold in Selfridges prior to launch, in line with Selfridges policies, procedures, and ethical trading requirements.
* Manage the ongoing review and development of supplier assurance and product specification procedures.
* Liaise with suppliers, Buyers, and Restaurants Operations to resolve queries related to product specifications.
* Maintain effective communication by leading Concept to Launch meetings with Food B&M and communicating specification approval statistics.
* Ensure the specification system is effectively managed so correct product information is transferred to other departments, including Online, Copy teams, Ticketing Teams, and Food B&M.
* Support the Food Safety team with conducting Foodhalls hygiene inspections, delivering training materials and briefing notes, and investigating food complaints with suppliers.
* Support building a sustainable and circular future by ensuring a robust supplier assurance and product approval process to deliver compliant yet innovative ranges.
How you’ll do it… you will be:
* Organised, with the ability to plan and prioritize tasks methodically and with keen attention to detail.
* Well-versed in food labelling legislation and associated regulations.
* Knowledgeable in allergen awareness and food composition.
* A great communicator, both verbally and in writing, with strong relationship-building skills and ability to work in a team.
* A project manager capable of delivering to tight deadlines in an ever-changing environment.
* Analytical and results-driven, able to use data to problem-solve.
* Flexible and adaptable in your work approach.
* Member of industry working groups (e.g., IFST, FDF, FSA, Campden BRI).
* Possessing a Degree in Food Science, Environmental Health, or a related discipline.
* Holder of at least a Level 2 HACCP qualification.
