Deputy Manager - Children's Home
We are excited to be opening a brand-new children’s residential home in Canterbury and are looking for a dedicated and motivated Deputy Manager to help lead the service alongside the Registered Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to join at the start of a new home, helping to build the team, shape the culture, and create a safe, nurturing environment where young people can thrive. Our organisation already operates a successful children’s home in Medway, and we are now expanding our services to support more young people across Kent. As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day leadership and management of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care and safeguarding.
Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting the daily running of the children’s home
* Leading and supervising the residential care team
* Ensuring the home meets Ofsted and Children’s Homes Regulations
* Supporting care planning and ensuring young people receive individualised support
* Assisting with staff development, training, and supervisions
* Helping create a stable, supportive and nurturing environment
* Deputising for the Registered Manager when required
We’re looking for someone who is passionate, resilient and ready to lead by example.
Essential:
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
* Experience working in a children’s residential home
* Experience in a Senior Support Worker or Team Leader role
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and Ofsted regulations
* Excellent leadership and communication skills
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
* Compassionate approach with excellent communication skills suitable for working with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams
* A commitment to safeguarding standards and promoting a safe environment for vulnerable children
Desirable:
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (or willingness to work towards)
* Full UK driving licence
