Job Summary
This is a newly created position within Brompton Bicycles H&S Department, created to support the strategic delivery of health and safety engagement, training, data oversight, and business-wide communication. The role acts as the key point of contact for day-to-day H&S support and awareness, working closely with the H&S Manager to embed health and safety best practice across the business.
The H&S Senior Advisor plays a critical role in ensuring training programmes are designed and delivered effectively, stakeholders are supported and held to account, and safety communications are maintained to a high standard. The role is not managerial and does not carry line management responsibilities but requires strong coordination, initiative, and emotional intelligence. It is ideal for someone with substantial H&S experience who can operate independently, lead initiatives and deputise where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities: Training and Competency Programme Deliver core H&S training to all levels of staff (e.g. incident reporting, DSE, COSHH, manual handling, inductions, fire, refresher training, HAVs, LOTO, among others).
Liaise with external training providers and internal departments to coordinate and schedule accredited or specialist training (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely, first aid, PUWER, among others).
Develop and maintain all training content and materials in line with legislation, Brompton policy, and audience needs.
Monitor training records in partnership with the People Team, escalate non-compliance, and track completion rates.
Deliver face-to-face and virtual sessions confidently and clearly, ensuring consistency and inclusivity.
Stakeholder Engagement & Support Serve as a point of contact for operational queries and guidance on safety practices.
Work with department managers, team leads, and supervisors to help integrate H&S standards into daily operations.
Proactively support and encourage local ownership of risk assessments, briefings, and training compliance.
Deputise for the H&S Manager in meetings or walkthroughs when required.
Inspection & Compliance Support
Lead on the delivery of routine inspections and audits using pre-agreed templates and checklists.
Support the creation of inspection schedules and maintain oversight of follow-up actions and completion status.
Input into the continuous improvement of monitoring tools and the inspection programme in partnership with the manager.
Incident Learning & Communication Work alongside the H&S Manager to ensure timely updates and lessons learned from significant incidents are communicated clearly and constructively to affected teams.
Track closeout of key actions resulting from incidents or audits and ensure accurate data is captured in relevant systems.
Identify and help address recurring trends by suggesting and implementing engagement campaigns or training refreshers.
Ensure training content is updated so that lessons learned and good practice is shared across the business.
Data Management & Reporting Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, and training using SML and Workday Learning.
Produce regular reports for the H&S Manager and senior leadership to support data-led decision-making.
Prepare updates for inclusion in the monthly H&S SteerCo, H&S noticeboards, and digital comms.
Project & Initiative Support Support the implementation of company-wide H&S campaigns aligned with the annual safety calendar.
Contribute to improvement initiatives such as onboarding enhancements, communication updates, and documentation reviews.
Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of ongoing safety interventions and provide constructive recommendations.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum 3 years' experience in a health and safety role, preferably in a manufacturing, logistics, or production environment in the UK.
Strong track record in delivering H&S training and engaging stakeholders across a wide range of functions and seniorities.
High attention to detail, excellent time management, and able to manage multiple concurrent priorities.
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, able to drive engagement and accountability.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel; experience with learning platforms and reporting dashboards desirable.
NEBOSH General Certificate, or equivalent qualification, is required. The ideal candidate is working towards their NEBOSH Diploma.
Train-the-Trainer or equivalent training qualification is desirable.
Additional qualifications (e.g. Fire Risk, First Aid Instructor, Manual Handling Trainer, IOSH Trainer) desirable but not essential.
Applicants must have the existing legal right to work in the UK. We are unable to sponsor work visas for this role.
Who you are:
This role sits within a small, high-performing Health & Safety team where clarity, accountability and continuous improvement are central to how we work but how we achieve these outcomes matters just as much as what we achieve.
You are likely to thrive in this role if you: Enjoy structure and clarity, and prefer working with defined goals, timelines, and expectations.
Bring strong emotional intelligence and understand how to adapt your approach to different individuals and situations while staying true to H&S principles.
Win hearts and minds through building respectful relationships, using influence and negotiation to promote safe behaviours rather than relying on authority or enforcement.
Are comfortable with direct communication and appreciate feedback that helps you improve and grow.
Take ownership of your workload and follow through on tasks without needing close supervision.
Are proactive you raise issues early, seek input where needed, and find solutions rather than waiting for instructions.
Value professionalism and calm communication, especially under pressure, and can maintain that standard consistently.
Believe in accountability and teamwork and recognise that personal performance impacts the safety and well-being of others.
Youll be joining a team where everyone matters, contribution is visible, and your ability to deliver with integrity, influence, initiative and purpose is both recognised and expected.
