Associate Nurse / AHP Director (Band 8c) for Care Group I (Oncology, Haematology & Cancer Services) - Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital

We are seeking an experienced, motivated and values led senior nurse/AHP leader to join our Care Group Leadership Team as Associate Nurse / AHP Director for Care Group I, with a focus on Oncology, Haematology and Cancer services. Reporting to the Nurse Director for Planned Care, you will be accountable for quality, safety, risk and patient experience performance and will play a key role in shaping and delivering the Care Group strategy in line with Trust priorities. Your portfolio will include responsibility for the following key services and teams:

* Mulbarton Ward (inpatient Oncology and Haematology ward)
* Weybourne Day Unito Acute Oncology and Haematology Service
* North Norfolk Macmillan Centre
* DVT Clinico Radiotherapyo Oncology and Haematology Specialist Nurse team


Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities include:

* Provide visible, accessible professional leadership for Nursing and AHP teams across Care Group I (Oncology, Haematology and Cancer services), ensuring safe, effective and compassionate care.
* Work as part of the Care Group leadership triumvirate alongside the Associate Operations Director and Associate Clinical Director to set direction, manage performance and deliver transformation.
* Lead on quality governance, risk, compliance and improvement activity, using data and patient/staff feedback to drive better outcomes and experience.
* Provide leadership for workforce planning, education and development, ensuring strong professional standards (NMC/HCPC) and robust systems for registration renewal.
* First level registered nurse/AHP with current NMC or HCPC registration (or equivalent relevant professional registration as appropriate).
* Degree level qualification (or equivalent) and evidence of Master's level study or equivalent experience.
* Significant senior leadership/management experience, including leading change and clinical innovation.
* Demonstrable experience of workforce planning and financial/budget management.

Job responsibilities

* Work alongside the Associate Clinical Director and Associate Operations Director to be responsible and accountable for providing comprehensive and robust professional leadership, guidance, advice, support and direction to the nursing and allied health professions across their Care Group, to ensure that patients are managed and cared for efficiently and effectively.
* Function at a senior level within the leadership team, proactively leading and providing solutions to resolve complex operational issues, in accordance with agreed objectives, targets, quality standards and resource constraints.
* Be part of the Leadership team in the implementation of patient centred clinical operational strategy and plans, ensuring that systems and processes are in place to comply with relevant legislation and governance requirements, linking with external bodies such as commissioners about service developments, contracts and clinical care pathways whilst utilising the expertise and skills of the wider leadership and corporate teams. This includes accountability for the delivery of those clinical and clinical technical services within their area.
* Provide a highly visible, accessible and authoritative presence to support the delivery of their portfolio and the Trusts overall objectives and service priorities.
* Provide comprehensive leadership to support the progression, development and positive reputation of the nursing profession.
* As an ambassador of the Trust, ensure that self and others always represent and practice to the highest professional standards.
* Be accountable to the Nurse Director (Planned / Unplanned) in the delivery of appropriate care standards, audits, or successor arrangements, including participation in Care Quality Commission assessments and reviews for the Care Group.
* Be accountable for working with the teams to improve the ways information is sourced and used to evidence and improve care delivery and outcomes.
* Lead relevant Care Group and services to ensure that the needs of patients and service users are met reasonably, and their views and opinions are sought and used appropriately, particularly to inform improvements in practice and care.
* Takes every reasonable step to maintain and expand own knowledge, skills, and competence.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* First level registered nurse/AHP, with current NMC or HCPC registration.
* Evidence of education to Master's level or equivalent experience.


Experience

* Significant management and leadership experience to including experience of working at a senior level.
* Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary issues in Nursing/AHP and its implications for the workforce and future health care delivery


Skills

* Solve problems, using a solution focused approach demonstrating competent persuasive and influencing skills.
* Implement policy and implementation plans to deliver the clinical strategy and plans ensuring successful implementation.
* Effective role model, demonstrating NNUH's PRIDE values of People focussed, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence
* Demonstrates understanding and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
