Worcester
UNIVERSITY OF WORCESTER
Posted: 26 January
Offer description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Student Money Adviser to join our Student Services department at the University of Worcester.

The successful candidate will be part of the University’s Money Advice Service which provides information, advice and guidance on student finance, welfare benefits, money management and related issues. The team also assesses and manages applications from students applying for help from the University’s means tested hardship fund; the Access to Learning Fund and Short-Term Loans.

The post holder will work with individual students, as well as promoting practical resources and giving advice to groups of students around money management and funding options. The team works with students from their first point of enquiry (such as at Open Days) through the application and pre-entry process, and then throughout their period of study as required.

We’re looking for someone who is excited about enabling our students to fulfil their potential through a range of support services in our inclusive and community focused environment. You will need to be professional and passionate about making a difference to the individuals you support and able to work collaboratively with staff across the university. You will need to have good attention to detail in assessing financial documents and strong communication skills to support students who may be in financial hardship.

What's in it for you?

1. Annual incremental increase up to £37,694, with the opportunity to progress to £41,064 subject to performance and the university reward scheme
2. Up to 36 days of leave per year (inclusive of bank holidays and University closure days) rising to 41 total days after 5 years’ continuous service
3. Access to a range of benefits including our Staff Retail Benefits Scheme
4. Wellbeing advice and support through our Employee Assistance Programme
5. In-house training and development support
6. A friendly, inclusive and supportive culture and work environment

For any informal queries about this vacancy please contact either Hannah Watkin (Assistant Director of Student Life) at h.watkin@worc.ac.uk or Clare Dawson (Director of Student Services) at c.dawson@worc.ac.uk

Please note that if not already an employee of the University of Worcester, the appointed candidate will be employed through our subsidiary company Uniworc Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of University of Worcester. Appointees of Uniworc Limited will automatically be enrolled into the Aviva FlexHE defined contribution pension scheme (subject to earnings and other eligibility criteria).

Please note that this post does not meet the minimum salary requirements for visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route. We are therefore unable to consider applicants for this post who will require sponsorship to work in the UK.
