Summary: We are looking for an After School Club Assistant to work under the guidance of the Afterschool Club Leader and Principal at Harris Primary Academy Kenley. You will provide childcare for pupils attending the club, ensuring their safety, welfare, and well-being. Your role includes supporting the delivery of a wide range of activities and maintaining a caring environment.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Maintain a safe, creative, and stimulating environment for children's play experiences.
2. Assist in planning and delivering a program of activities tailored to children's needs.
3. Establish and maintain professional boundaries with children, staff, volunteers, parents, and carers.
4. Adhere to all policies, standards, and guidelines.
5. Provide a diverse program of arts, crafts, sports, drama, music, and off-site activities.
6. Build positive relationships with children and their families, encouraging parental involvement.
7. Manage health and safety, including risk assessments, setting up activities, and overseeing trips.
8. Attend team meetings and participate in training sessions.
9. Handle administrative tasks such as registering children, managing petty cash, and parental forms.
10. Keep the environment clean and tidy, including toilets and activity areas.
11. Follow first aid procedures and record incidents appropriately.
12. Deputise for the Club Manager when necessary.
Qualifications & Experience:
* NVQ2 or equivalent in Playwork or Childcare.
* Good numeracy and literacy skills.
* Knowledge of first aid.
* Experience in a similar role or within a school setting.
* Experience supporting children with learning difficulties or disabilities.
Skills and Personal Qualities:
* Understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures.
* Effective communication skills.
* Physical fitness appropriate to the role.
* Enthusiasm, imagination, and a sense of humor.
* Practical skills in arts, crafts, sports, or games.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Commitment to equality and diversity.
* Ability to work flexibly and prioritize the needs of children.
* Understanding of safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.
