Overview
To be responsible to Supervise a Cable Team; to oversee the installation of all designed types of cables from cable drums to pre-installed containment systems and or structures, trench-duct works.
About Hinkley Point C
The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.
Marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of our nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UKs move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity generated by its two EPR reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year, or 600 million tonnes over its 60-year lifespan.
What you'll be doing
As a Leading Cable hand, you will have the following accountabilities;
1. Setting to work responsibility, briefing the team prior to the work commencing.
2. Ensure whatever task being instructed; you have a clear understanding of your role leading the team to execute a safe and timely install.
3. Always ensure you fully understand any associated risks, controls, and rules.
4. Report all unsafe events and conditions always taking care of yourselves and others
5. Intervene positively if you see something deemed unsafe.
6. Stop work if anything changes and inform your supervisor to enable any controlled change of instructions.
7. Listen and learn from any toolbox talks conducted by either your line supervisor or from the leadership team.
8. Actively embrace the behavioural safety programme across the site by displaying the safe choices in all our daily actions.
9. Aspire to develop several specific skills sets that will contribute to the potential further development within the cable team structure at HPC.
10. Ensure PPE, work equipment and tools are kept compliant as instructed.
Who we're looking for
Who we're looking for;
11. NVQ Level 3 Cable Installation
12. SSSTS
13. Client/Contractor National Safety Group Safety Passport [CCNSG]
14. Current in- date CSCS card
15. Experience in laying all types of cable is preferred
16. Good Knowledge of all Cabling Aids.
17. Good Knowledge of Mechanical Winching
18. Be familiar with the IET Regulations regarding bending radii for various types and sizes of cables.
19. Able to obtain a high level security clearance.
