Quality Engineer - Automotive Manufacturing Midlands Up to c.£55,000 excellent benefits Most quality engineer roles are buried under a manager, chasing paperwork and waiting for sign-off. This one puts you front and centre. You will take ownership of site Quality, supported by two Quality Technicians, and act as the key link between two manufacturing sites. You'll run the lab, coordinate production technologies, drive audits (internal and external), own problem-solving, and be the direct point of contact for plant management and the internal customer onsite. It's autonomous, visible, and high-stakes - your decisions keep quality on track, close issues fast, and protect the plant's KPIs. What you'll do: Run the quality lab and coordinate all production quality activities Lead internal and external audits, maintaining professionalism at every level Drive problem-solving using robust 8D methodology - from quick fixes to eradicating systemic issues Support new product launches, engineering changes, and ensure control plan adherence Consolidate and report plant quality figures (weekly/month-end) Push continuous improvement, manage people in the quality team, and hit driving KPIs You'll thrive here if you: Hold a relevant engineering qualification (Degree/HNC/HND/ONC minimum) Have solid understanding of IATF 16949 (or TS) standards and quality tools (FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, etc.) Bring real people management experience - developing, motivating and leading teams Are strong with problem-solving (8D mastery), project management (timing, budget, quality) Communicate confidently and professionally with everyone - operators, management, internal/external customers Know your MS Office suite inside out (Excel, Word, PowerPoint especially) Preferably, have examples of leading teams and closing complex quality issues Ideally, we want someone who sees this as a stepping stone to the next level (and beyond) within the business.
