Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Birmingham for a Senior Product Development Manager in Decorative Lighting. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the product development process from concept through to production.
This includes overseeing the development of new products, adapting current designs to customers bespoke requirements, coordinating with sales teams, and production departments to ensure that products meet the highest standards of quality and design.
The successful candidate will become an integral part of a small team of product engineers in Birmingham. We require a candidate that has an extra eye for detail, can manage their time effectively to meet deadlines and has a can-do attitude. The roll will encompass the whole process of product development, from CAD modelling (Solidworks) and producing documentation for the factory to follow for production, through to packaging and creating end user documentation.
The Role Requires
Liaising daily with the MD on custom orders and drawing changes required for production
Communicating with the production department to help with the continued development and implementation of new products and design changes
Modelling of machined parts, components and sheet metal fabrications in SolidWorks
Creation of dimensioned part drawings for manufacture, assemblies and configurations in SolidWorks
Production of detailed exploded views and BOMs to guide the assembly team in how to make our lights
Use of SolidWorks Composer software and Adobe Suite to create easy to understand user instructions and diagrams
Modelling of well thought out packaging designs
Creation and management of BOMs
Sourcing components and liaising with suppliers
Qualifications / Experience
Over five years industry experience
Excellent SolidWorks skills
An understanding of design for manufacture
Knowledge and experience in the lighting industry ( beneficial )
Experience using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign ( beneficial )
Experience with Solidworks Composer ( beneficial )
Excellent project management and leadership skills
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Fluent English essential
Working Hours: 7am to 4pm, Monday to Thursday / 7am to 1pm on Fridays at our factory in Birmingham 'B19'
20 days holiday + bank holidays
Salary dependent on experience.
