Are you an experienced Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health (MEP) Design Engineer looking for a pivotal role at a major infrastructure project? NES Fircroft has been exclusively retained to support a world-leading infrastructure services provider who is seeking a talented individual to manage the design process.
As a Design Engineer, you will report directly to the Design Manager and be responsible for the end-to-end management of the design process for your discipline(s). You will ensure that design packages are delivered on time, within budget, and fully compliant with stringent quality, safety, and sustainability standards.
As the new MEP Design Engineer, some of your key responsibilities will be:
* Co-ordinate design team activities to ensure the project design is completed on budget and on time, monitoring and tracking design progress and managing any slippages effectively.
* Ensure the design fully complies with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality requirements, actively defining and managing design interfaces, and leading the review of the design with all interested parties.
* Manage tendering for design packages (negotiating offers upstream and downstream), assist the procurement team in defining subcontract scopes, and ensure compliance with financial parameters.
* Promote, explore, and materialize value engineering opportunities throughout the design process, and proactively incorporate new technologies to bring innovation to the project.
* Liaise with the Client, Design Consultants, and relevant stakeholders on all design matters, assist the Design Manager in contract management, and prepare design monthly KPI submissions.
To succeed in this role, you will need a strong background in MEP design management and construction coordination. We are looking for candidates with:
* Proven experience in MEP design (management) and working in the construction industry, specifically with MEP installation.
* Strong working knowledge of the design process and contract management, BIM, and Health and Safety Legislation (e.g., Design for Safety principles).
* Experience working in a cost-conscious environment and the ability to promote innovation, efficiencies, and value engineering.
* Excellent stakeholder relationship management and people management skills, with a proactive approach to drive compliance and incorporate new technologies.
* Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, meet challenging goals, and manage competing priorities with minimal guidance.
If you are a proactive and experienced MEP Design Engineer ready to manage complex design processes for a major infrastructure client, we encourage you to apply.
