Applications are invited for a GPSI post in ENT. This is a permanent, part-time post (1.25 PA) with the session held Thursday AM. The post is based at Eccleshill Community Hospital, Bradford and is within the Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job
* Assessment, investigation and treatment of patients referred to the service.
* Provision of a range of clinical interventions as appropriate to the commissioned service (e.g. microsuction, flexible nasendoscopy, audiology).
* Coordinate with other services to meet the full holistic needs of patients (e.g. audiology/hearing aid services, vestibular physiotherapy, speech and language services).
* Signpost patients to local and national patient support groups and other support services.
* Provide non-face-to-face advice and support to local practitioners in ENT management within the GPSI scope.
* Provide support and training to GPs and primary care teams to develop clinical competence in ENT, with education supported through commissioning pathways.
* Collaborate with other ENT GPSIs in the area and via Community ENT Group nationally; ensure good access to secondary care specialist services within a well-integrated service.
Service development and leadership
* Work with local secondary care specialists and related groups to develop an integrated ENT service model with streamlined care pathways.
* Develop and implement management guidance for common ENT conditions in collaboration with primary and secondary care teams.
* Participate in integrated training programmes across primary and secondary care for medical and nursing staff and extended primary care team members.
* Support an integrated, patient-centred approach to commissioning services.
Education and liaison
* Provide advice and support to local practitioners via non-face-to-face methods (telephone, internet) for ENT conditions within the GPSI scope.
* Offer education and training to clinicians to maintain and improve competence in ENT management.
Person specification
Experience
* Previous experience relevant to the specialty.
* Clinical governance / audit experience.
* Out of hours experience relevant to the job.
* Experience in clinical decision-making and risk management.
* Minimum of four years (FTE or equivalent) postgraduate training in the UK (or equivalent EEA) with at least 2 years in the relevant specialty; up-to-date knowledge and fitness to practise; commitment to professional development.
Skills
* Practical skills related to the specialty; ability to work in different clinical settings.
* Clear communication, good organisation and planning; empathy and sensitivity.
* English language proficiency suitable for clinical discussions with patients and colleagues.
Qualifications
* MRCGP or equivalent medical qualification; eligible for full GMC registration at time of appointment.
* Evidence of Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC Good Medical Practice.
Desirable
* Interest in teaching and management; multilingual abilities.
* Specialist knowledge exam; ALS instructor certificate.
