Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for Teaching Assistants to support a number of secondary schools in the Romiley and surrounding Stockport area. These roles are ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping students achieve their potential and supporting teaching staff in a busy classroom environment.
Successful candidates will support learning both in-class and in small groups, helping students with behaviour, academic progress, and social development. There may also be opportunities to step up and cover lessons when required, so confidence managing behaviour and supervising a classroom is essential.
We welcome applications from graduates, care workers, existing TAs, youth workers, and applicants with no prior experience, as long as you have a passion for working with children, confidence, empathy, and safeguarding knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
Assisting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom activities
Supporting students with behavioural, emotional, or learning needs
Helping maintain a positive and focused learning environment
Supervising classes when required in the absence of a teacher
Encouraging student engagement, confidence, and participation in lessons
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with young people in a secondary school, education, youth work or care setting (preferred but not essential)
Strong behaviour management skills or a willingness to learn
Confidence to supervise a class independently when required
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A proactive, adaptable, and positive attitude
A genuine passion for supporting students’ learning and development
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
