Supply Desk is currently recruiting a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher with a specialism in Autism (ASC) to join a highly regarded specialist school in Radlett. This is a full-time role starting in September, offering a rewarding opportunity to support and inspire young learners with Autism Spectrum Condition in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
The school is known for its therapeutic approach, small class sizes, and strong support network. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, resilient, and confident in adapting teaching strategies to meet a wide range of needs.
Job Description:
* Deliver tailored lessons to students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ensuring accessibility and engagement.
* Plan and implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) in collaboration with SENCOs, therapists, and parents.
* Use structured teaching approaches such as TEACCH, PECS, and visual supports to enhance understanding and communication.
* Foster a safe, predictable classroom environment to support emotional regulation and engagement.
* Adapt curriculum content to suit pupils’ developmental stages and EHCP outcomes.
* Support pupils' social and emotional development through positive behaviour strategies and consistent routines.
* Work closely with support staff and therapists (e.g., SALTs, OTs) to deliver an integrated approach to education and wellbeing.
* Maintain accurate records of pupil progress, behaviour, and development, and report to parents and external professionals.
* Participate in regular training, team meetings, and collaborative planning to ensure best practices are upheld.
Our Ideal Candidate Will:
* Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent, with proven experience in special education, particularly with autism.
* Be knowledgeable in autism-specific strategies and interventions (e.g., PECS, Makaton, sensory integration).
* Have experience working within an SEN or ASD-specific setting.
* Demonstrate patience, empathy, and adaptability in response to individual pupil needs.
* Be confident in managing challenging behaviours in a calm and consistent manner.
* Have strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Hold or be willing to obtain a clear DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service).
* Be passionate about making a lasting impact on the lives of children with additional needs.
