Our client is a leading specialist contractor, renowned for delivering high-quality groundworks and reinforced concrete (RC) frame solutions across a wide range of projects. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Estimator to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on exciting and complex projects within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Tender Preparation: Accurately prepare cost estimates for groundworks and RC frame packages, ensuring all elements are thoroughly quantified and considered.
* Site Visits: Conduct site visits to gain an in-depth understanding of the project scope, working with the project team to develop a comprehensive cost plan.
* Take-Offs and Measurements: Carry out take-offs and detailed measurements from drawings, ensuring that all aspects of the project are accurately priced.
* Cost Analysis: Analyse subcontractor and supplier quotes, assess value engineering opportunities, and ensure the cost plan remains competitive.
* Collaboration: Work closely with the project managers, operations teams, and clients to deliver cost-effective solutions while maintaining high-quality standards.
* Risk Management: Identify potential risks to cost and project delivery, offering strategies for mitigation.
* Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior management on the progress of tenders and assist in decision-making with accurate data.
* Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with industry trends, materials, and methods, suggesting improvements to the estimating process.
Key Requirements:
* Proven experience as an Estimator within the groundworks and RC frame sector (minimum 2 years).
* Strong understanding of groundworks, reinforced concrete frames, and civil engineering practices.
* Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
* Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
* Excellent attention to detail with a methodical approach to cost estimation.
* Strong negotiation skills and the ability to work under pressure.
* A good understanding of contract types and procurement methods.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Relevant qualifications in construction or civil engineering (e.g., HNC/HND or degree level preferred).

* Competitive Salary up to £75,000
