Job Description:
Job title: Principal Marine Engineer - Platform Systems
Location: Portsmouth - Onsite only
Salary: Circa £52,000-£56,500 (dependent on skills and experience)
What you'll be doing:
* Assist in the production of estimates and create or assist in the production of design requirement specifications.
* Undertake functional design and provide qualification and evidence for acceptance, fitness for purpose, legislative requirements, and safety.
* Develop, promote, and share new technologies for implementation across businesses and programmes.
* Act as Engineering, technical, or design authority for a sub-system or Line Replaceable Unit (LRU).
* Provide technical leadership and guidance on matters relating to a discipline; may occasionally lead a team of engineers including line management responsibilities.
* Work independently or as part of a small team.
* Be a highly experienced professional engineer with a broad and deep knowledge in a discipline area.
* Be a member of a relevant professional body and registered as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng), or demonstrate experience equivalent to a Chartered Engineer.
Your skills and experiences:
* Possess significant knowledge, understanding, and experience across various engineering areas to successfully fulfill the role's responsibilities.
* Have in-depth knowledge in some technical areas and sufficient breadth to make sound engineering decisions, consulting specialists when necessary.
* Experience with systems such as Auxiliary systems including HVAC, Fuel Systems, Gas Turbine Services, Fresh Water Services, Sea Water Services, Black and Grey Water Systems, Bilge and Sullage Systems, Gas Systems, Intake and Exhaust Systems, Chilled Water Systems, Lube Oil, and Hydraulics.
* Experience in safety management and decision-making processes related to safety is desirable.
* Ability to identify requirements for auxiliary systems and conduct verification/validation activities to manage risk and ensure compliance is desirable.
