Band 2 Phlebotomist

This is an exciting and varied role requiring a compassionate individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work under pressure, and basic keyboard proficiency. Successful candidates must have recent clinical experience in venepuncture/phlebotomy (preferably within the last six months) and will be required to complete our local training and competency assessments upon appointment.
Main duties of the job
This role requires flexibility and the ability to remain calm in a busy environment. Responsibilities include:
* Obtaining blood samples from ward inpatients, outpatients, and various clinics, including the Paediatric Clinic.
* Working full time, in flexible shifts covering mornings for wards, as well as afternoon shifts (up to 5 pm) on a rotational basis. The hours also include rotational Saturday mornings and bank holiday mornings.
* Applicants must be able to work both independently without direct supervision and in a Team, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism while interacting with patients in a sensitive manner. A strong team ethos, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to contributing to patient care are essential.
* The post holder will be based at Good Hope Hospital.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE or equivalent in English & Mathematics
* Display and demonstrate knowledge and understanding up to or equivalent to NVQ level 2
Experience
* Previous experience of working in a healthcare environment
* Recent experience in venepuncture / Phlebotomy
* circulatory and respiratory systems, First Aid and CPR
* Awareness of the importance of
* Confidentiality
* Safeguarding
* Infection Control
Additional Criteria
* Able to work flexibly in designated areas that require a Phlebotomy service, which meet the needs of service demand.
* A team player but also able to be an effective lone worker.
* Full, current UK driving license with access to a car for business use
