NSB Recruitment are working in partnership with a well-established, forward-thinking environmental and engineering consultancy to recruit a Senior or Principal Hydraulic Modeller. This is a key hire to support the continued growth of their flood risk and drainage capability across the UK.
You’ll join a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team delivering innovative solutions across infrastructure, regeneration and development projects. This role offers the chance to take technical ownership, lead project delivery and play an active role in client development.
The Role
You’ll take a lead position in delivering flood risk and drainage projects, with a strong focus on hydraulic modelling and drainage design. Working across multiple UK offices, you’ll collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality, commercially aware project delivery.
* Leading technical delivery on hydraulic modelling and flood risk projects
* Managing medium-sized projects or multiple smaller, complex schemes
* Producing and reviewing technical outputs (models, reports, designs, calculations)
* Coordinating multidisciplinary inputs and ensuring delivery to time and budget
* Supporting business development activities, including bids and client engagement
* Building and maintaining strong client relationships to secure repeat work
* Mentoring junior team members and supporting team development
We’re keen to speak with experienced professionals who bring both strong technical capability and commercial awareness.
* A degree in Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline
* Chartered or Incorporated status (ICE, CIWEM or equivalent)
* Strong experience in hydraulic modelling, including 1D/2D (e.g. Flood Modeller, TUFLOW)
* Proven use of InfoWorks ICM and integrated urban drainage modelling
* Experience in drainage design and SuDS
* Knowledge of flood risk for development, infrastructure and regeneration schemes
* Understanding of UK water company requirements and approval processes
* Experience in site visits, surveys and technical reporting
* Ability to lead projects and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders
