Job Summary
We are looking for a Lead Clinician to clinically lead The Specialised Therapies Team within Wakefield CAMHS. The successful candidate will work alongside the Team Manager and other Lead Clinicians, driving development of evidence‑based treatments, clinical leadership, and services for children, young people and families.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership through supervision, caseload management and teaching.
* Work clinically 2 days per week alongside the Lead Clinician role.
* Assess and manage risk within a mental health and/or social care setting.
* Travel flexibly across the district to deliver services.
* Lead and supervise multidisciplinary team meetings and case reviews.
* Develop and implement new and innovative ways of delivering evidence‑based treatments.
* Provide therapeutic care to emotionally demanding clients and maintain clinical competency framework.
* Attend meetings, liaise with other services and promote user/carer involvement.
* Apply Trust policies and procedures in cases of aggression, acute distress and safeguarding.
* Deputise for the team leader when required.
Qualifications
* Relevant professional qualification, e.g., nursing or allied to medicine.
* Post‑qualification training in the identified portfolio (e.g., LD, LAC, eating disorder).
* Diploma in Social Work (Dip SW) or relevant mental health profession.
* Teaching and assessing qualification.
* Membership of a professional body.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Postgraduate qualification in mental health (CBT, Family Therapy, Counselling).
* Master’s level qualification.
* Formal management or supervisory qualification.
Person Specification – Essential
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Self‑reliant, autonomous practitioner capable of managing own caseload.
* Strong negotiation, problem‑solving, and customer‑service orientation.
* Excellent record‑keeping, report writing, and risk assessment skills.
* Sound IT skills.
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team; calm, confident, innovative, and assertive.
* Ability to work and make decisions under pressure and crisis situations.
* Willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing service priorities.
* Commitment to challenging discrimination and improving accessibility of services.
* Current driving licence and access to a car during the working day.
Person Specification – Experience
* Experience delivering training to others.
* Extensive experience in the identified portfolio requirements.
* Substantial post‑qualification experience working with children, young people and their carers.
* Experience working in different cultural contexts and multidisciplinary team settings.
* Knowledge and experience of equality, diversity, safeguarding, relevant legislation and guidance.
* Evidence of advanced clinical/therapeutic knowledge and skills in mental health.
* Extensive experience in assessment, risk management and implementing evidence‑based practice.
* Advanced experience of safeguarding children and young people.
Desirable Experience:
* Experience in community settings.
