Quality Control Technician £26,000 Working shifts on a4 on 4 off rotating pattern which includes days (7am - 7pm) and nights (7pm - 7am). Role overview We are looking for a Quality Control Technician to hold an active role collecting and preparing samples for both physical and chemical testing. They will also assist with other day-to-day functions within the laboratory. Attention to detail is essential whilst learning on the job, so the ideal candidate must have good team working and communication abilities and be able to work within a fast-paced, flexible environment with good time management & judgement/prioritisation skills. The role will consist of collecting material for testing and gathering data prior to assist production and ensure all products are fit for customer specification. Typical responsibilities will include: Collecting samples from the production department. Preparing the samples for physical testing and chemical analysis, recording data and test results. Conducting physical testing of samples using a number of different pieces of equipment. Undertake chemical tests using instruments such as X-ray Fluoresce (XRF) and Gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Follow H&S rules, SSOW procedures & help to maintain KPIs. Maintaining, cleaning the laboratory and the equipment. Perform a range of wet chemistry tests. Covering staff absences or holiday in the Laboratory/Quality environment and assisting with their roles until they return. Assisting with training of new staff, and ensuring machines are operating effectively. Please note, you may be requested to carry out tasks, in addition to the points mentioned above. Previous knowledge and experience of Plastics, Recycling, Quality Inspections would be beneficial. Chemistry Laboratory experience is desirable but not essential. Ideal candidate will be computer literate with knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and able to collate data for easy reference.
