A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Lead Engineer to join a high-performing data centre team based in Chertsey, Surrey. This role sits at the heart of a mission-critical environment, where reliability, precision, and leadership are essential.
As the Lead Engineer, youll be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of all electrical systems, coordinating the shift team, and maintaining operational excellence across a modern, high-spec data centre facility.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the shift team in delivering planned and reactive electrical maintenance across all data centre systems.
Operate, maintain, and fault-find on HV/LV infrastructure, including switchgear, UPS, generators, and lighting systems.
Oversee PPMs, reactive tasks, and critical system monitoring to ensure continuous uptime.
Act as the primary technical point of contact during your shift.
Monitor and respond to BMS and alarm systems, escalating where necessary.
Mentor and support shift engineers, promoting high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Ensure compliance documentation and reports are completed accurately and on time.
Liaise with contractors, clients, and management to maintain smooth operations.
Skills & Experience Required: Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship, City & Guilds, or NVQ Level 3 qualification.
18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations .
Proven experience in a data centre or critical environment essential.
Strong technical knowledge of UPS systems, generators, switchgear, and control systems .
Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a building services or maintenance team.
Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
