Are you ready for a role where every day is rewarding, interactive and purposeful? Do you love engaging with young people, supporting their growth, and helping create positive learning experiences — both inside and outside the classroom? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.
Schools across Tyne and Wear are recruiting Teaching Assistants for term-time only positions — perfect if you’re passionate about working with young people and want a role that fits around the school calendar. Applicants must be available full-time during school term dates.
Make an Impact Every Day
This isn’t a quiet, sit-at-a-desk job. You’ll be right in the heart of school life, helping young people feel confident, supported and happy. You’ll work with teachers to assist pupils with reading, writing and classroom activities, adapting to the needs of individuals and small groups. You’ll help foster engagement, celebrate achievements, and provide meaningful encouragement throughout the school day.
Dynamic Days — Not Your Typical 9–5
As a Teaching Assistant, your role will vary from moment to moment:
* Morning welcome & breakfast chats — start the day on a positive note
* Active lesson support — help pupils stay focused and engaged
* Breaktime activities — perhaps leading a quick game of basketball, tag or creative play
* Lunchtime social connection — eating with students and joining in with ping pong challenges or supervised PlayStation sessions
* Pastoral support — offering encouragement and a listening ear where it’s needed most
* Afternoon reflection & prep — helping teachers prepare for tomorrow
These moments help build trust and make school a place where students feel seen, valued and supported — and where you can play a central role in their development.
Who Will Thrive in This Role?
This opportunity is ideal for people with:
* Strong communication skills and emotional intelligence
* A genuinely positive, patient and encouraging approach
* Team-oriented mindsets, comfortable working alongside teachers and support staff
* Backgrounds that might include:
o Youth work
o Sports or wellbeing Coaching
o Childcare and Early Years
o Mentoring or community engagement
o Graduates exploring careers in education or social support
You don’t need formal education qualifications to get started — many successful TAs have come through supportive backgrounds and built their skills on the job.
Why This Is a Great Opportunity
Working as a Teaching Assistant is hugely rewarding — you’ll be supporting pupils academically, emotionally and socially, helping them build confidence and resilience throughout the school year. The role provides variety, meaningful interaction, and the chance to grow professionally within education.
Remember — availability during term time is essential.
If you’re enthusiastic, energetic, and committed to making a positive impact on young lives, we’d love to hear from you!
