Role
The Role: Intervention and Inclusion
* In-Class Support: Embed yourself within the classroom to provide proactive de-escalation and immediate behaviour management, allowing the main teacher to continue their lesson flow.
* 1:1 & Group Intervention: Deliver targeted sessions focused on emotional literacy, self-regulation techniques, resilience building, and conflict resolution for identified students.
* Behaviour Strategy: Confidently implement and contribute to the review of individual behaviour plans (IBPs) and risk assessments, utilising a trauma-informed approach.
* Liaison: Work in tandem with the SENCO, Heads of Year, and external agencies to ensure a cohesive and consistent support structure for vulnerable learners.
* Mentorship: Act as a consistent and empathetic role model, building trusting relationships to motivate students and improve their attendance and attainment.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Experience: Significant, recent experience working directly with secondary-aged pupils who exhibit challenging behaviour and/or have SEMH needs (experience in PRU, youth work, or specialist settings is highly valuable).
* Expertise: Proven ability in de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour management strategies.
* Resilience: Exceptional personal resilience, patience, and the ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanour in highly challenging situations.
* Safeguarding: A thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
* Compliance: Must hold or be willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service.
