The role:

The Jisc digital transformation programme is a three-year, organisation-wide initiative aimed at delivering a seamless, consistent, and high-quality end-to-end experience for all customers, regardless of how they engage with us or what their needs are. Anchored in five key customer journeys identified through analysis of user activities and pain points, the programme builds on the achievements of the Group CTO transformation initiative. It underscores the strategic importance of transformation across Jisc, leveraging foundational investments to drive impactful, customer-focused change throughout the organisation.

The Data Modeller role sits within the Enterprise Architecture team who are responsible for developing and maintaining a target architecture and associated roadmaps, design patterns, standards, and models to support and govern change delivery across Jisc’s Transformation Programme and the wider enterprise.

As the Data Modeller, you will be accountable for designing and maintaining conceptual, logical and physical data models to support architectural and transformation activities, to enable analytical and operational use cases within our data platforms.

What you’ll be doing:

* Designing, analysing, and documenting data requirements using a range of techniques including source data analysis, documentation, interviews, and data modelling workshops.
* Creating and maintaining data models appropriate to the need and that conform to our data modelling standards.
* Producing and maintaining metadata and documentation to accompany data models using data modelling tools where appropriate.
* Creating and maintaining specifications for data transformation in both documentation and scripting.
* Testing models, data structures and transformation scripts to ensure they meet requirements.

What we are looking for:

* Significant experience of designing, maintaining and using conceptual, logical and physical data models.
* Practiced at leading data modelling activities to define business requirements, create models, and review outputs with stakeholders.
* Experienced at capturing technical and business metadata including being able to elicit and create sound definitions for entities and attributes.
* Demonstrable experience in designing data migrations, including data transformation.

We know that sometimes people can be put off applying for a job if they think they can’t tick every box, so we encourage you to apply even if you do not meet 100% of the requirements, but if you feel this role is perfect for you. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles!

Specific patterns for working in the office are not mandated, and the frequency of time worked in the office is agreed with your manager. Meeting in person is something we value, so you may need to travel on occasion to any of our hub offices.
