Nurse Team Leader - Accident and Emergency Department (EDGH)

We are a busy Emergency Department treating on average 50,000 patients a year. We are looking for Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to work within the Accident and Emergency Department. There is no guessing what the day might bring.

The patient will be at the centre of everything you do. We are looking for a highly skilled and accomplished individual who is well motivated and committed to high standards of patient care and personal professional development.

The successful candidates at Band 6 will be able to demonstrate that they can manage a dedicated team to deliver nursing care of the highest standards to our patients, while working under pressure. A minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in an Emergency Unit setting is essential, a mentorship is also desirable and must be completed ASAP if not already obtained once in post.


Main duties of the job

Provide emergency nursing care to patients within the department, confidently and competently being able to provide clinical care in all areas of the ED, Triage, RAT, Majors, Resus and CDU. Provide clinical supervision to junior staff as required and act as a deputy to the B7 on shift should the need arise. Utilising appropriate extended scope roles/skills with appropriate training.

We will provide a supportive atmosphere, mentorship and clinical supervision in the Unit and are committed to professional development of all staff. Team working and Lead nurses are an integral part of the Units with all staff enabled and empowered to make a real difference for their patients.

Person Specification

* Registered Nurse and hold active registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
* Professional qualification and training to lead the clinical team with relevant knowledge and skills for specialist area
* Degree level qualification relevant to role
* Evidence of mandatory and statutory essential training skills, for example, Basic Life Support, manual handling, infection control, fire etc
* Ability to lead a team, allocate workload, develop and promote staff wellbeing and performance
