Previous NHS physiotherapy experience is required.
At face-to-face interview, the applicant must be able to demonstrate specialist MSK physiotherapy skills and the ability to involve patients in decisions about their care.
Responsibilities
* Specialist assessment and treatment of patients with a wide variety of MSK conditions.
* Determine a clinical diagnosis and develop, deliver, implement, evaluate and modify individualised treatment programmes and/or provide specialist advice.
* Ensure appropriate pathways of care and communication via liaison and referral to other agencies as required.
* Continue to develop specialist skills.
* Work autonomously within HCPC registration, Trust policies and professional practice.
* Maintain accurate and comprehensive up-to-date records.
* Participate with and deliver education and training of physiotherapists, other healthcare professionals, and medical staff.
* Support the Team Leader and Clinical Lead in the day-to-day running of the Physiotherapy Service.
* Rotate around locations within the Calderdale and Huddersfield health economy.
* Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle (reasonable adjustments for disability).
* Participate in mandatory training and pursue relevant in-service training and other professional development opportunities.
* Autonomously manage a clinical caseload of patients at a specialist level.
* Use shared decision-making to support patients in setting goals and self-management.
* Provide specialist assessment and treatment skills including physical rehabilitation, manual therapy, exercise, pain relief (e.g., acupuncture, electrotherapy), complex bio-psychosocial assessment, cognitive/perceptual understanding, and falls assessment.
* Use appropriate outcome measures.
* Apply evidence‑based knowledge within the specialist clinical area.
* Act as a resource for physiotherapists and other professionals regarding assessment, treatment, management and care of service users.
* Work collaboratively with other providers, including medical and surgical consultants, the health and social care community, and acute colleagues.
* Ensure effective care pathways and transfers of care/discharges.
* Develop specialist programmes of assessment, treatment and intervention for MSK physiotherapy service patients.
* Manage and prioritise own clinical workload efficiently and delegate appropriately.
* Participate in the supervision process with staff and students as required.
* Implement and review clinical standards relevant to the work undertaken.
* Use networks locally, regionally and nationally to share information and good practice.
* May participate unsupervised in out-of-hours respiratory on‑call and weekend orthopaedic service, as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Undergraduate or postgraduate experience in NHS as a physiotherapist.
* Specialist MSK physiotherapy band 6 qualification (implied by role).
* Eligibility to apply requires NHS physiotherapist experience.

Our out‑patient physiotherapy team sees patients referred from primary care, A&E and secondary care services across the Calderdale and Huddersfield health economy, with services offered at multiple sites. In Calderdale, we offer the full MSK pathway, including FCP, out‑patient physiotherapy and the MSK Service which works closely with orthopaedic services.
