At Near Future, we specialise in Best Practice Financial Modelling: the art of building models that are Transparent, Robust, Adjustable, Consistent and Efficient. We support investors, bankers and finance professionals with every aspect of financial modelling, including Model Development, Model Audit and Training. We work on projects across the globe, with significant experience in renewable energy in Europe.
The Opportunity
We are offering an internship for high-calibre students or recent graduates who want hands-on exposure to financial modelling in a boutique consultancy environment. You will work alongside experienced modellers on live client engagements spanning infrastructure, renewable energy, private debt, telecoms and other sectors.
You will contribute to real deliverables: building model components, preparing training materials and assisting with business development. By the end of your internship, you will have developed practical skills in Best Practice Financial Modelling and gained insight into how a specialist consultancy operates.
High-performing interns may be considered for a full-time Associate role.
What You Will Do
Financial Modelling Support
* Assist in building and maintaining financial models under the guidance of senior team members
* Perform data gathering, input population and assumption verification
* Help structure model layouts using Best Practice principles (consistent formatting, clear labelling, logical flow)
* Conduct quality checks on model outputs and flag inconsistencies
Training & Content Development
* Help prepare training course materials, case studies and exercise workbooks
* Research and draft content for blog posts or client-facing thought pieces
Business Development & Administration
* Support the team with research on prospective clients and market opportunities
* Assist with proposal preparation
What We Are Looking For
Academic Background
* Penultimate or final-year undergraduate pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related quantitative discipline
* Alternatively, a recent graduate or postgraduate student with relevant coursework
Skills & Attributes
* Strong Excel proficiency and genuine enthusiasm for spreadsheet-based problem solving
* Solid grounding in accounting fundamentals (understanding of the three financial statements and how they interconnect)
* Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail
* Proactive, curious and comfortable asking questions
* Clear written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Entrepreneurial attitude—eager to contribute beyond a narrowly defined role
Desirable (Not Essential)
* Exposure to financial modelling, valuation or corporate finance concepts through coursework, competitions or personal projects
* Familiarity with Project Finance or M&A transaction structures
